Excel Add-in Guide
Sync your bank transactions directly into Microsoft Excel. Four steps and you're done.
SheetLink Pro is required to use the Excel Add-in. The add-in uses the same account and bank connections as the Chrome extension — one subscription covers both. View pricing →
Install from Microsoft AppSource
Open Excel, go to Insert → Add-ins → Get Add-ins, and search for "SheetLink". Click Add to install it. The SheetLink button will appear in your Home ribbon.
You can also install directly from AppSource in your browser:
Get SheetLink on AppSourceSign In with Google
Click the SheetLink button in the Home ribbon to open the task pane. Click "Continue with Google" and sign in with the Google account associated with your Pro subscription.
Important: Sign in with the same Google account you used when purchasing Pro. Your subscription is tied to that account — using a different email will show the Free plan.
Connect a Bank
Go to the Bank tab and tap "Add Bank." A Plaid window will open — search for your institution, enter your credentials directly in Plaid's secure interface, and authorize the connection.
- SheetLink never sees your bank username or password
- Pro accounts can connect unlimited banks and credit cards
- Bank connections are shared with the Chrome extension — connect once, sync from both
Already connected banks in the Chrome extension? They'll appear automatically here — no need to reconnect.
Sync to Your Workbook
Go to the Home tab and click "Sync Now." SheetLink will write your transactions into the active workbook.
Two sheets will be created (or updated) in your workbook:
- Transactions — 30+ columns including Date, Name, Amount, Category, Merchant, and more
- Accounts — current balances and account details for each connected bank
Pro tip: SheetLink syncs manually — your data only updates when you click Sync Now. With Pro you get up to 2 years of transaction history on your first sync.
Common questions
The add-in still shows the upgrade prompt after I subscribed.
Switch tabs inside the add-in (e.g. tap Bank then back to Home) — this triggers a tier refresh. If it still shows, sign out and sign back in with the same Google account you used at checkout.
My bank shows a red dot.
The connection has expired and needs re-authorization — common after a password change or MFA update. Go to the Bank tab, tap the ⋮ menu next to the bank, and select "Reconnect."
Transactions aren't showing up.
SheetLink syncs manually — click "Sync Now" on the Home tab. If the button is greyed out, check the Bank tab to confirm your connection is active (no red dot).
